Animal Farm 90-128

Summary

Animal Farm did not end the way most of the animals thought life was going to be. The animals did run their own farm and work for themselves, but it seems like things were worse then they were when the humans were in charge. Napoleon and the pigs took control of the farm they made the lower animals work hard and received less food than all of the other animals in the country. Also there was only one line left in the seven commandments, which said "All animals are equal but some are more equal than others"(Orwell 123). When some of the other farmers came to visit the farm they liked some of the features they saw and wanted to sue them on their own farm. So now all of the other farms will become like animal farm. All of the things the animals did not want to do happened for example walking on two legs and wearing clothing. The book did not end the way i thought it would, i know that at the end the animals are working for themselves and not the humans and they are running their own farm. But, they are not looking out for each other the higher animals are treating the lower animals like slaves . At the end they became their own enemy

Quotation

"Four legs good two legs better"( Orwell122).

Reaction

After reading this book i was kind of confused because the begin of the book did not lead me to think that it would end in that way. i thought the animals were going to be better the the humans and treat each other different but it was the opposite of what i thought would happen.the book can relate to history in many ways, for example the lower class people work hard and receive little back just like in the book. Often the leaders can become corrupt and become a dictator similar to what happened in Animal Farm.

Animal Farm 42-90

Summary

The animals all over the country are behaving rebelliously. The farmers can't come together to put a stop to it because they are rivalry with each other. The animals are acting this way because they believe that they are protecting themselves. In the next chapter Napoleon and Snowball has a lot of disagreements it seems like Napoleon wants to control every thing so he can have all the power for himself. The animals are now trying to take what they feel should be theirs they are stealing apples and milk, and anything else the produced. The animals in Animal Farm don't like humans and don't want to be like them. But not all of the animals feel the same, for several days Mollie has been acting strange she comes to work late and she claimed that she does not feel well, but then one day one of the other animals saw her with a human and the human was stroking her nose. Mollie said it was not true but then a few days letter she disappeared. The pigeons said they saw her and she was wearing a ribbon she was being fed by a human and her coat was newly clipped. How are the animals going to rebel against the humans if they don't stick together?

Quotation

"No animal shall kill any other animals" ( Orwell 88).

Reaction

Does this rule apply to all animals or just animals on a farm?. It seems like the animals are adopting thing from humans for example the commandments that they have. Humans also have that, some of the other things they have is leaders. The animals are more humans then they think. also what Mollie did was wrong i thing she should of stayed with the animals and not turn her back on them. In order for them to succeed they have to work together. now i have a feeling that their plane will fall apart because the animals will miss the humans just like Mollie did and they will go back. i wonder what Major would of said about Mollie's behavior.

Animal Farm 15-42

Summary

The book starts off at the end of the day when Mr. Jones the overseer of the farm goes to bed drunk and did not secure there farm building properly. Then all the animals came out to listen to Old Major, a boar he is old he knows more then the other animals so he gives them his opinion on life and humans. He says that the animals are slaves to humans. Old Major dreams about a place where animals are treated with dignity and not controlled by men. The animals don't want anything to do with humans and they don't want to adopt some of their habits such as living in a house and wearing clothes. The animals feel like the humans taken advantage of them from their straight to what they can produce. Humans are weak and they are the enemy. The animals have a point. A few nights latter major died in his sleep the animals on the farm started to think about what Major told them and they had a whole new outlook on their lives and the way they were being treated. Several nights a week the animals would meet to talk about their rebellion , but animals were talking about the good thing they have for example how feed them and take care of them if they rebelled. The animals also came up with seven commandments that they have to live by, which I thought was kind of funny because the animals are trying so hard not to be humans and yet their ideas are similar to our ideas, we also have commandments that were try to like by. The animals have more in common with us then they think.

Quotation

" The life of an animal is misery and slavery: that is the plain truth"( Orwell 18).

Reaction

After reading the first few pages of the book I'm siding with the animals. I never thought their lives were so hard. I agree with them and i think humans should appreciate them a lot more. I think Old Major makes a good point humans are weak compered to animals. my whole view on animals changed just from these few pages.
