Summary
It has been days since Inman left the hospital, he is all alone and walking by foot. There have been many obstacles along the way such as bad weather, vicious dogs, and also threats from the Home Guard. He can not walk very fast due to his injuries. Along his journey he starts to remember the day he met Ada.
Ada is the daughter of Monroe he is a farmer. He died and left his daughter all alone with no one to take care of her. Inman met her in a church and it was love at first sight. The first time they talked it was awkward because Inman didn't really know what to say, but he won her over with a simile. while Inman was thinking about his past with Ada he was also thinking about their future, he wanted to become a hermit and live in the mountains with Ada. while on his journey met two girls who gave him a rid in their canoe. Suddenly two men started to shoot at Inman they used the canoe for shelter. At the end no one got hurt and Inman continued his jounery.
Quotation
"Why was man born to die"(Frazier 60)?
Reaction
When I read this question I did not have an answer to it.
I do not agree with this quote because I think that every one is here for a reason. there are many stages in life that a person goes through in order to grow up and understand the meaning of life. Life is a jounery and dieing is just the end of the jounery.

Cold Mountain by Charles Frazier 1-20
Summary
The book starts off with the main character Inman, he is a soldier in the Civil War. He is in the hospital due to injuries to his neck. Everyone including the doctors thought he would not make it. So they gave him a gray rag and some basin to clean his own wound. Before he started to clean the wound it started to clean it's self, many things came out of it such as a collar button, a piece of wool from he shirt he had on during the time of the ancient, small amounts of metal , and something that looks like a peach pit. In addition Inman spent a lot of time in the hospital so to kill some time he would read and look out the window and occasionally he would get flash backs of the war and life before the war. So far I like this book, it has a lot of detail of what is going on .I like the way they described the places they were in and how the characters look. the book is very interesting and very graphic.
Quotation
"His right foot had been taken off by grape at Cold Harbor, and the stub seemed not to want to heal and had rotted inch by inch from the ankle up. His amputation had proceeded past the knee, and smelled all the time like last year's ham"(Frazier 3).
Reaction
when I read about some of the soldiers in the book the first thing that pooped in my head
was the living conditions of the soldiers. I started to wonder about their medical care and the types of places lived in. I thought it was very sad and i thought that they needed more then what they were given.
